Bob Dylan once approached Leonard Cohen at a benefit they’d played to ask him how long he took to write a particular song. “About five years,” Cohen replied. Cohen then asked Dylan the same question and Bob answered, “About five minutes". While Ira has worked for months on certain epic efforts, he’s generally far closer to Dylan in this regard. Given an assignment and specific parameters, he can turn out a preliminary demo in as little as a few hours, and deliver a finished version shortly thereafter. Ira’s catalog includes hundreds of songs. While many are in the form of home-recorded demos, many others are master quality recordings ready for use in your film, video, or TV project. He also loves hearing his songs covered by other artists and is continually amazed and delighted to hear how they interpret his work. Since landing in the Bay Area, he’s performed at such noted venues as the Fillmore, Great American Music Hall, Slim’s, Freight & Salvage, Sweetwater and more. He loves playing solo, which gives him the most flexibility to reach into his deep catalog as the moment strikes him. But he also plays in a duo with violinist/singer Adrian West, and has some great musicians lined up for a five-piece post-pandemic ensemble.
